    Honda RC166

Hey all! So after my stalled Mazda 787B build I started back on a motorbike model. This one is a pretty awesome kit (expensive too with all the additional dress up parts) and I think Tamiya really went to town when they produced this kit. Apparently this motorbike is a bit of a legend as it won every single GP race it entered in 1966 with Mike Hailwood on board. I will be building the number 16 Mike Hailwood version and as usual I will add as much detail as I can possibly muster. I have also splashed out on the Tamiya brand chain set, rivet set, front fork and clutch set, wheel set and finally the Hobby Design detail up set. I think that covers everything so far, hope you all enjoy this build and I will try this time to get more pics of the various parts. As usual C&C most welcome

Nice clean build, one day I'll try one of these old school cars, seems like you can get pretty creative with them!

Thanks John! Good to see you back here! I had some reference but nothing substantial, mainly google photos
  4. Nice work, good to see the decals are a strong white so no bleed through, I'm looking forward to seeing this done with all the rivets in place, how will you do the rivets?

    1/12 Porsche 956

Thanks mate Lets see some photos of your 335S, The Rothmans livery is so iconic mate, for me it was a tough decision between rothmans or joest, I went with Joest because this particular car had Ayrton Senna as one of the drivers. For the cooling ducts I assume you are referring to the metal clamps? Those are from Best Balsa Kits: https://www.bestbalsakits.com/tamiya/tamiya-detail.asp?kitnumber=2780
  7. So I have decided to pull out one of my big 'proper' kits! This is the Model Factory Hiro Porsche 956 in 1/12 scale. It has a tonne of white metal parts, which means its going to weigh a tonne once its finished! The bodyshell is thankfully resin though. Here is the car with the late great Aryton Senna driving it at the 1984 World Endurance Championship Nurburgring 1000km This is my first MFH kit so I plan to build this pretty much box stock unless there are obvious parts that need further detail. Bearing this in mind there are some inaccuracies with this kit and the actual car and as I said I will stick with the box stock instructions. So first thing to do when doing a large multimedia kit like this is to check if any parts are missing, then the parts need to be organised based on their step in the instructions. As I find each part I use a highlighter to mark that I have checked the part is there After a while you end up with neatly packed parts, I suggest to go to your local hardware or stationery shop and get some plastic organisers as it will make your life much easier while building And here is the whole kit all neatly packed and ready to be built! This build might take a while to complete so I hope anyone following this will be ready for the long haul :))

Are the resin allen head screws like rivets? so you drill the hole and insert it or do you actually have to screw them in?

    Honda RC166

Ahh ok: The ‘gold’ coloured parts of the engine were actually a mix of Alclad Pale Gold and Alclad Pale Burnt Metal, I mixed them roughly 50:50
  12. Fantastic work Pascal! Painting rivets is very fun hahaha!!!

I have the Morbidelli 125cc, yes the resin casting is fantastic as is the rest of the kit, maybe try an etch primer for resin? Thats what I use and I havent had any problems

Oh my god this is very sad to see happen, is it very noticeable and needs to be repaired? If so I think it would mean taking it all apart to fill and repaint etc?

Yes you should give it a try and see how it looks, I think be careful with the copper though as it might at a rose tint to the overall colour

Wow!!!! This looks pretty cool! How much of it is scratch made and how much is with the use of kit parts from various kits? Superb workmanship!
