  1. So I have decided to pull out one of my big 'proper' kits! This is the Model Factory Hiro Porsche 956 in 1/12 scale. It has a tonne of white metal parts, which means its going to weigh a tonne once its finished! The bodyshell is thankfully resin though. Here is the car with the late great Aryton Senna driving it at the 1984 World Endurance Championship Nurburgring 1000km This is my first MFH kit so I plan to build this pretty much box stock unless there are obvious parts that need further detail. Bearing this in mind there are some inaccuracies with this kit and the actual car and as I said I will stick with the box stock instructions. So first thing to do when doing a large multimedia kit like this is to check if any parts are missing, then the parts need to be organised based on their step in the instructions. As I find each part I use a highlighter to mark that I have checked the part is there After a while you end up with neatly packed parts, I suggest to go to your local hardware or stationery shop and get some plastic organisers as it will make your life much easier while building And here is the whole kit all neatly packed and ready to be built! This build might take a while to complete so I hope anyone following this will be ready for the long haul :))

Hey John, apologies for not replying sooner, moving country tends to cause lots of delays including answering questions and building things too! Yes I have seen Eric Coles superb build and watching his build motivated me to get the kit and get it started! As for the brake calipers I have simply enhanced what the kit part was. So in the kit the rears of the calipers (the sections facing inside of the brakes) have the pistons but they are very poorly represented so I decided to enhance them. Here is a photo side by side showing how the kit part looked compared to my modified version: I would assume your 962 will have a similar situation too.

Hey all! So after my stalled Mazda 787B build I started back on a motorbike model. This one is a pretty awesome kit (expensive too with all the additional dress up parts) and I think Tamiya really went to town when they produced this kit. Apparently this motorbike is a bit of a legend as it won every single GP race it entered in 1966 with Mike Hailwood on board. I will be building the number 16 Mike Hailwood version and as usual I will add as much detail as I can possibly muster. I have also splashed out on the Tamiya brand chain set, rivet set, front fork and clutch set, wheel set and finally the Hobby Design detail up set. I think that covers everything so far, hope you all enjoy this build and I will try this time to get more pics of the various parts. As usual C&C most welcome

    Honda RC166

Thanks @Wayne S!!! Very good question and I'm having a hard time trying to remember how because it was so long ago but I think I used a small 1mm chisel tool, just gotta be careful not to go to hard and damage the surrounding parts I'm pretty sure I used 2mm wire which the tubing was put over Thanks my friend If you have any questions feel free to ask anytime, I shall look up that reference book too! Apologies to everyone as I was moving house and I havent been able to come back online for a while, my bench is yet to be setup so it will be some time before I'm back building anything

Thanks John! Good to see you back here! I had some reference but nothing substantial, mainly google photos
  19. Nice work, good to see the decals are a strong white so no bleed through, I'm looking forward to seeing this done with all the rivets in place, how will you do the rivets?

    1/12 Porsche 956

Thanks mate Lets see some photos of your 335S, The Rothmans livery is so iconic mate, for me it was a tough decision between rothmans or joest, I went with Joest because this particular car had Ayrton Senna as one of the drivers. For the cooling ducts I assume you are referring to the metal clamps? Those are from Best Balsa Kits: https://www.bestbalsakits.com/tamiya/tamiya-detail.asp?kitnumber=2780

Are the resin allen head screws like rivets? so you drill the hole and insert it or do you actually have to screw them in?
